Established in 2000, Caublestone Collies is a small kennel located in Roanoke, Alabama. As I invest my life in this wonderful breed, the Collie, I have found that they have a heart like mine; maybe that's why I fell in love with them. I also have fond memories of the collies that my grandparents had on the farm in Banner Elk, NC. I have always had a love for animals growing up.

My Start

My introduction into the show world was a wonderful experience. To see if showing was really for me, I went to shows for a long time to observe and learn. After deciding that this is what I really wanted to do (invest my time, energy, and money into showing and beginning a successful breeding program, I needed to learn from those who were successful. Since that time, I have been fortunate to be introduced to some wonderful collie people who have given me encouragement, help and advice along the way. But more importantly, they have been willing to share their valuable "collie" knowledge with me.

During the time I was attending the shows and learning all I could about the breed, I obtained my first collie (an older bitch, Angel, Criterion's Grand Spirit, a tri-rough Ch. Fury's Spirit of Legend's daughter) from Corinne Zellner to learn from before I  purchased my first show collie.  Even now, it amuses me to think about her being such a good sport. Every time I learned something new I tried it out on her.

But guess what! My first show collie was a smooth, Caublestone's Magic Wych Charm, known to her fans as "Magic" (a blue merle,

Ch. Capella's Midnight Blues daughter). She is also my first champion finishing under specialty and all breed judges. What a great start in showing.  Thanks to Lynda Cox for trusting me with Magic.

The well-being of the collie is important to me. Also, my goal is to develope a breeding program that will produce healthy collies that are conformationally correct and sound, elegant, have beautiful expression and great temperament.  The two dogs that have greatly influenced my breeding program is Ch. Capella's Midnight Blues (Memphis) and Ch. Southland's Bowen Island (Bowen). I am thrilled at what they have contributed to my breeding program.
